Sabine's Diary for Daddy

I can't wait for my Daddy to hold me and play with me! In the meantime, I'll post here so he can see what I'm up to!

Numbers, equations, and new words

For the last month I've been learning about numbers. Mommy introduces 2 new numbers each day. I'm not learning numbers like my fans did in school. Instead I have large white cards with big red dots on them. Mommy shows me 10 cards 3 times a day. I really like learning the new numbers! Today I learned 31 and 32.

Other times during the day Mommy and I do "Dot Math" This means Mommy shows me 3 cards. She holds up each card as she says something like "1 plus 2 equals 3" We do 9 different equations throughout the day. I really enjoy this stuff. Mommy can tell because when she says equals I smile and giggle.

Some of you may be rolling your eyes. Mommy said she did when she first read about this, but now she likes it. She got it from the book "Teach your baby math"

Today Mommy and I started something new - words! Today I learned how to read Mommy, Daddy, Sabine, Grandma and Grandpa! I giggled when I saw my own name. Next week Mommy said I get to learn how to read Japanese and Spanish too.

I love you Daddy! I miss seeing you on the computer, but Mommy said your internet connection isn't as reliable as mine. So I guess I'll just settle in on mommy's lap and nurse for awhile.

Love,
Sabine
(Mommy & Bonnie too)

I love that you are teaching your daughter numbers and showing her words already! I am a speech-language pathologist, so I love to hear that parents are exposing their children to print at an early age. You are a great mommy!

Thank you so much for your support! It's challenging, but I'm loving it...and so is Sabine
